Stay away. stay FAR AWAY. I'm pretty sure this is the Merkur I saw a little while ago on the street. It sounded terrible and his "boost leak" could be any number of issues. I very quickly see this thing hitting double the initial purchase price in new parts and service unless you are really good with that rat's nest of wiring and tubes. Oh and let's not forget it is running stock ECU and MAF so yeah this thing is a total dog as-is. Oh and it has apparently been run for 60k miles on the engine rebuild on stock tuning and sensors.......Not exactly ideal.
I wish whoever buys this heap some luck, but it will be for a true fan only. I would take the motor out of the car and then work on it. There's just too many things that can go wrong on an 80s turbo motor from Germany. I wish I was doing that on my Audi as it would make everything MUCH easier.

Hmmm was it around Kalamazoo? I have seen a bright green Merkur driving around and that one was great sounding.

Hmmm, I might be leaning towards crack pipe on this one. There is a whole lot needed to be done on this, and a lot of the problems sound too ambiguous for my taste... though it is very rare. Hmmmm...

Yea that is why it caught my eye. I dont have the money for it but maybe a Merkur enthusiast will buy it

It was on 131 north past grand rapids. This same dark green color but I couldn't make out the details besides it sounding unhealthy. Not quite "running on 3" unhealthy, but it sounded kinda boggy like it didn't want to rev. The "new parts" all being related to the fuel system and the fact he states the new cause might be a boost leak and that it was pointed out the car is not properly setup for the upgraded turbo (he does not list a new boost gauge being bought nor does he have the ability to know air/fuel mixture thanks to no gauge and no sensor) the owner is chasing problems around blindly.
Tl;dr - the "tuner" didn't get the necessary information gathering bits so the car runs like shit and the inevitable problem popped up that you can't diagnose because you don't have the proper hardware in the engine.

It should be worth that much in aftermarket parts alone. If it were close I would be taking a trip to most likely purchase it.
